HamacTex® is a weatherproof functional fibre developed especially for hammock use and durability. HamacTex® material has been around since 2005 and was developed with the desire to create a fabric that was similar to cotton yet had greater durability built into it. Allowing the end user to relax and leave their hammock out all summer knowing it will handle the elements. This unique polypropylene-based fibre has been appreciated by hammock enthusiasts worldwide ever since.
With New Zealand's quickly changing weather it's good to know a rain shower will not harm a product made of HamacTex® or polypropylene. These fabrics are water repellent encouraging rain drops to simply bead and drip off the hammock, leaving the fabric dry. Heavy showers may eventually soak through, but keep it outside and it will quickly dry once the rain stops and be ready for use again shortly.
Long-term exposure to the sun is not a problem to HamacTex® and polypropylene hammocks either: Even with months of direct sun exposure, the colours maintain their brightness while the fabric remains soft and supple. With a similar feel and look to cotton you don't have to give up your hammock comfort either. You may even have trouble telling the two apart. Even on your bare skin, you will be pleasantly surprised at the softness and feel.
