This may be a small growing company, but I believe companies are not all about profit and should do 'good' where they can. So when it comes to choosing our product suppliers I'm looking for companies whose values align with my own and are helping to make the world a better place.
A couple of initiatives Hammock Shop is involved in through our main supplier La Siesta and Cielo Hammocks include;
SOCiLA is a German non-profit initiative created by the founder of La Siesta for promoting organic cotton production in South America. The initiative is working on;
Our hammocks made from organic cotton are soft, comfortable and perfect for those with sensitive skin.
'Dito' is a former Brazilian beach soccer international who founded 'Escolinha do Dito' in 2003 - a beach soccer academy in Fortaleza, Brazil. The academy provides a safe place for impoverished Brazilian children to play and learn, with anywhere from 80-200+ students involved. Two students have even gone on to represent Brazil in beach soccer.
Funds go towards soccer equipment and materials with Dito's dream to be able to one day build a clubhouse, with a library, computer and homework tutors. For every La Siesta Brazilian hammock purchased €5 is contributed to this great academy.
Cielo Hammocks
Cielo Hammocks supply our range of Mexican hammocks, which are 100% handwoven in the state of Yucatán. Hammocks are woven in small Mayan communities providing sustainable work opportunities with a strong focus on giving back to the communities through their Cielo Foundation charity.
One Tree Planted
From time to time we support other charities and causes and in 2018 partnered with One Tree Planted, to plant a tree for every hammock or hammock stand purchased. Read more here.
