Hi, I'm Mike owner and operator of Hammock Shop.
Hammocks have been a passion of mine since regularly traveling to Mexico in the early 2000's. I fell in love with the 'hammock lifestyle' and saw how hammocks helped create a more relaxed and stress-free lifestyle. Something I believe we all strive to obtain. With our beautiful summer climate and love of outdoor living, I believe hammocks are the perfect solution, and every home should have one.
Knowing who you are purchasing from is an important consideration, and I'm sure you'd at least like to know a little bit about who you are buying your next hammock from. I am it; no fancy pants marketing, finance, or sales department - I have it all covered! I'm here to sell you hammocks - good hammocks, excellent hammocks, actually. I love hammocks and believe hammocks should be comfortable, beautiful, ethically made and high-quality. So that's what I stock here; hammocks that will give you that perfect afternoon nap, that feeling of relaxation and that sense of escape, and yes, all hammocks are actually stocked here in rural Hamilton, New Zealand.
With the support of my wife when things get busy, I'm here to answer your emails, pack your orders and generally ensure you are happy with your new hammock. Hammock Shop has been operating since 2014 - and I have been running online stores since 2008. I have efficient and effective systems set in place (and always have my smartphone beside me whilst enjoying hammock time) to ensure you will receive replies to your emails within hours and purchases are dispatched via courier the day they are made if placed prior to 2 pm.
With a wealth of photos, product videos and information, I strive to provide you with a real sense of what you are buying with all the information you need to help make the perfect hammock choice. Combined with an easy-to-use hammock shopping site to ensure you'll be quickly relaxing like the happy people in the photos!
I believe even small businesses should provide wider benefits to the community and planet. At Hammock Shop, I do this firstly through paying special attention to the larger companies (La Siesta & Cielo Hammocks) I source my products from and how they operate, and what social initiatives they have in place.
Secondly, what good are hammocks without trees (unless you have a stand), so for every hammock purchased, a contribution to tree planting through 'One Tree Planted' is made in an area of need in the world.
Where possible and practical delivery packaging is made from compostable or recycled material courier satchels, or recyclable & reusable cardboard packaging. Our hammock packaging is kept simple and minimal also.
All hammocks and products carry a two-year guarantee from material or manufacturing defects. To get the most life from your hammock, simply follow the simple instructions and care guide included with your hammock and you're sure to get many years or quality hammock use. Many stocked hammocks are pure or organic cotton, as such these are not 'leave outside and forget' hammocks - bringing them in at night and protection from moisture is recommended. If you want something to stay outside all summer then our weather-resistant hammock range is the one for you. Unsure of the material, check the 'Material' tab directly under the 'Add to Cart' button on every product page.
If you change your mind, you have 30 days from delivery to get in touch to arrange a return or exchange.

Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the item is faulty.
Hammock comfort depends heavily on having the right hanging distance, so I strongly recommend checking measurements before opening your hammock.
Each product page clearly lists hammock dimensions and minimum hanging distances, and these measurements are also printed on the packaging.
If a hammock is opened and does not fit your space, I may be unable to accept a return.
Unopened hammocks can still be exchanged.

Whenever purchasing on the Internet, you need a safe and secure system to enter your credit card details through. That is why I use the world's leading online payment providers including; Shopify Payments (Shop Pay), Google Pay and Apple Pay to process all credit card payments. When making payment, there is no requirement to have an account with any of those companies and your details are highly secure. They may ask if you would like to set up an account with them after payment, but that's entirely up to you.
Alternatively, payment via Internet Banking or bank deposit is an option at the checkout - you just need to wait for your payment to clear before it will be dispatched, but it's pretty quick these days, often the same day or overnight.
Please note, we never store credit card details, so additional items cannot be added to an existing or previous order, they will need to be purchased through the online store again.
Should you notice a double credit card charge showing on your account, you'll likely note one will stipulate 'pending' and this will disappear after a day or two. This is down to how the banks/credit card companies process online payments and not something controllable from our end.
